How could such a beautiful place collapse into a huge genocide?
Everyone was coexisting harmoniously before the horrible tragedy of genocide occurred in Rwanda. Eleven percent of Rwanda's population was killed and approximately ninety percent of all of the Tutsi tribe was killed. Something must have happened to create such tension between tribes causing this many deaths. Though it has been proven that they had a complex society with specialized workers, advanced cities, advanced technology, record keeping, and a complex institution, they didn't have ability to provide resources to keep up with the pace of population growth. They couldn't provide enough food and clean water. The President died in a plane accident, which was the initiating factor that led to tension between Tutsi and Hutu. Without a leader and a lack of resources, the tribes started to take matters into their own hands. The Hutu's decided they were the superior race and were going to eliminate an inferior race in order to keep all the resources for themselves.
